James C. Palmer Dies Thursday
James C. Palmer, a respected citizen of Clarence, passed away at the family home in the West part of Clarence Thursday afternoon at two o'clock. Mr. Palmer had been in poor health for about a year, and underwent an operation at Kirksville hospital in May, hoping that his health would be improved. He seemed to be improving for several months and only a month ago in company with his wife visited with his son in Moberly. He has been confined to his bed only the past two weeks, the direct cause of his death due to heart trouble.
James C. Palmer, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Gibson Palmer, was born March 9, 1857, near Memphis, Mo. He was married first to Mary Woods and to this union eight children were born, five of whom survive their father. He married second Mrs. Eva Hubble Richardson in the year 1921, who with the five children and three step children survive, Lorien Palmer of Moberly, Everett Palmer of Texas, Harvey Palmer of Guymon, Okla., Mrs. Julia Rule and Mrs. Jennie Broadley, both of Yakima, Washington. The three step children are Orlee and Edgar Richardson and Mrs. Joe Mishler. There are also fourteen grand children who have lost a loving grandfather, and many friends and relatives who mourn his passing.
He united with the Holiness church in early manhood and displayed a Christian character by his many noble deeds. Most of his life has been spent in Missouri, at one time was a prominent farmer of the Redman vicinity and for the past seven years has been a residence of Clarence. No funeral arrangements have been made.
