The son of Rudolph and Amelia Bergan, Herman was in the fourth grade at Bath Consolidated School. He enjoyed working with his brother in the garden and loved to help his mother feed the chickens. Two of 46 victims killed, Herman (pictured on the right) and his brother, Henry (on the left), became part of the worst attack on a school in the history of the United States. (His headstone has the wrong year of death.) He is survived by his parents; and siblings, Rudolph and Ernistine.
