THE PARIS NEWS, Monday, November 1, 1937..

L.B. 'Uncle Brock' Coward, 90 years old, died at his home at Powderly Monday morning.

The funeral was arranged for 10:30 a.m. at Red Hill Cemetery with Emberson-Brown-Roden Funeral Home having charge of arrangements.

Born in Alabama, Mr. Coward many years ago came to Texas and had lived long in Powderly community, engaging in farming.

Grandsons being pallbearers; Howard & Jack Coward, Glenn & Luther Ashford, Ralph & Louis Armstrong.

A son, James Thomas Coward died in 1906.

Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Ara Coward; two sons, Johel Brock Coward and William Jimmy Bryan Coward, both of Powderly; and three daughters, Mrs. Stella (Lawrence M.) Ashford of Powderly, Mrs. Emma Lou (J.B.) Ashford of Caddo, OK, and Mrs. Annie Mae (William Henry) Armstrong of Paris.

He received a pension from the State of Texas for service in the Confederate Army #47449. His wife's pension #51834.
