Elaine Becker Cloute, 89, of Fort Atkinson, passed away on Monday, Oct. 10, 2011, at the Black Hawk Senior Residence.
She was born in the Town of Oakland in Jefferson County on June 7, 1922, to Walter G. and Bertha (Endl) Becker.
She married LaVerne Cloute on July 22, 1942, in Fort Atkinson. He passed away on Sept. 1, 1993.
Elaine attended St. Joseph's grade school in Fort Atkinson and Fort Atkinson High School, graduating in 1940.
She had been employed by James Manufacturing Co. and Petrolane Gas Co., and worked at the Jefferson County Courthouse, retiring in 1984.
Elaine was a lifetime member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, and a member of the Council of Catholic Women and St. Ann's Society.
She also volunteered at the Golden LivingCenter and Fort Memorial Hospital.
She enjoyed fishing the Wisconsin River at Sauk City and on Lake Wisconsin, salmon fishing at Two Rivers, and reading and socializing with friends. She also was a pet lover.
Surviving are a son, William J. (Patricia) Cloute of Jefferson; daughter, Colleen (Steve) Lightbourn of Eau Claire; three grandchildren, Betty Ann (Brent) Milam of Gladstone, Mo., Cynthia (Jon) Klink of Eau Claire and Christina Lightbourn of Madison; four great-grandchildren, Jacob and Matthew Klink, and Brianna and Brooke Milam; sister, Ruth Ann (Vern) Erdman of Jefferson; sister-in-law, Donna Cloute of Fort Atkinson; and nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Church at 11 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 14, with Father Brian J. Wilk as celebrant. Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery.
Friends may call on Friday at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Rainbow Hospice Care, 147 W. Rockwell St., Jefferson, WI 53549.
