Funeral services for Jodie Hobby, 87, of Sylvester, who died on Jan. 14 at the Worth County Hospital in Sylvester due to declining health, were held on Jan. 16 at the Banks Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Tommy Tucker officiating. Interment followed at Providence Cemetery.
He was the son of the late Morris Franklin "Dice" Hobby and Catherine (Kate) Furney Hobby.
The Worth County native was a retired farmer who was formerly employed with the Worth County Board of Education. He resided all his life in the county of his birth.
He was a member of the Georgia School Bus Drivers Association, Worth Lodge F&AM 194, and the New Bethel Freewill Baptist Church.
Full Masonic rites were observed at the graveside. Serving as pallbearers were Tracy Hobby, Travis Hobby, Jeff Hobby, Sharber Fiveash, Monty Carlton, and Byrus Fowler. Hobby is survived by his wife, Minnie Ola Farmer Hobby of Sylvester; two sons, Bobby Harold Hobby, Olin Hobby, both of Sylvester; three sisters, Allene Fowler of Sylvester, Hattie Cates of Albany, Recelle Cox of Corpus Christi, TX; 8 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. Banks Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
