Daughter of Morris "Dice" and Katherine (Furney) Hobby.

Cindy Cox, born September 27, 1923 in Valdosta, Georgia, died February 1, 2011. She was a farm girl during the Great Depression. When a child, her family fed and provided toys for children and buried the kin of families who could not afford it. Her father, Morris Franklin Hobby (Dice) donated his own farmland for a school. Her mother, Kate Furney was a crack shot and could shoot a screech owl at midnight from 100 yards in the dead of the night. Cindy was one quarter Cherokee Indian and proud of her heritage. She married Dr. William Andrew Cox, a world renowned Cardio-Vascular Surgeon, but then behind every great man is an exceptional woman. And Cindy was an exceptional woman. She was a 'Stay at Home' mom who instilled strength, but most of all humor in her life's lessons to her husband and children. Her feats on the tennis court were matched only by her dedication to her Church. She drew strength from her faith and lived her life accordingly.

She is survived by her four children and five grandchildren. A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, February 11, 2011 with the Reverend Bob Cox officiating. Friends and family are welcomed to send flowers or make a memorial donation to Lighthouse Hospice.
