J.J."Jake" Andrist, 79, former resident, dies in Illinois.

Word has been received here by Sidney F. Andrist of the death of his father, J.J. Andrist of Rochelle, Illinois on Tuesday.

Mr. Andrist has been in failing health for the past six months was a former Crookston resident, residing here until 1949 when He and Mrs. Andrist left to make their home in Rochelle, Illinois.

John Jacob Andrist was born November 12, 1877 in Defiance, Ohio. He married the former Mary K. Knutson on September 5, 1900. The couple had three sons and two daughters. Jake was a retired Great Northern Railway employee and a member of the Brotherhood of Railroad Trainmen. Before becoming employed by the railroad, he ran a drayline, running the first motor dray line in Crookston.

Mr. Andrist was a brother of Mrs. J.J. Sundet of Crookston and Roy L. Andrist of Hawthorne, Calif. Other survivors include his wife; three sons, Sidney of Crookston, Ralph of New Canaan, Conn., Donald of Rochelle, Ill, two daughters, Mrs. William (Mae) Boltman and Mrs. Iver (Bluebell) Johnson of Ames, Iowa and several grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Frank and C.W. (Will) and two sisters, Mrs. F.W. (Amelia) Spencer and Rose Andrist.

Burial will be in Lawn Ridge Cemetery, Rochelle, Illinois, services held on Friday from the Presbyterian Church there. Mr. and Mrs. Sidney Andrist and Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Johnson, all of Crookston will leave Thursday to attend the funeral.
