George Vandruff was born in Monongahela County, West Virginia, September 8, 1844. Came to this state early in life with his parents and had lived in the vicinity of Williamstown for years. He was united in marriage to Sarah M. Moore December 3, 1865 in Clark County, Missouri. To this union were born five children, four daughters and one son. Of the daughters, Florence died in girlhood. The living are Henry, of Williamstown; Mrs. Harry (Eura Belle) Ingram, Arbela; Mrs. John (Birdie) Blessing, Downing; and Mrs. Lillie (Lillburn) Mussetter, Little Cedar, Iowa. The latter was not able to be present at the funeral. Mr. Vandruff's wife preceded him in death some two and one-half years ago. Aside from the son and three daughters who survive him, there are eleven grandchildren and three brothers.

Mr. Vandruff was a retired farmer, a soldier in the Union army during the Civil War, being three years in active service, receiving an honorable discharge at the close of the war.
