NOTE: The following records were extracted by the late Chester Walkup of the Old Santa Teresa Cemetery. This cemetery is located next to the Santa Catarina Cemetery off Boyd drive in the City of Carlsbad. The Municipal, Santa Catarina and Old Santa Teresa Cemeteries are all next to each other. The obits read as buried in Santa Catarina but were actually buried in Old Santa Teresa Cemetery, which was probably first known as San Jose Cemetery.

JOSE ACOSTA
DIES IN LOVING

Jose Acosta, 57, who had lived in Loving at least 25 years, died yesterday following a heart attack in a Loving hospital. Acosta, a prominent member of the Spanish-American community at Loving, worked at the United State Potash Company refinery.

He was born Mar. 14, 1893, at Ojina, Mexico. Requiem mass will be said at 10 a.m. tomorrow at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, Loving, and burial will be in the Loving Cemetery with West Funeral Home in charge of arrangement.

Survivors are his wife, Mrs. Clara Acosta; two sons, Abelardo and Jorge Acosta; four daughters, Mrs. Anita Jaquez, Carlsbad, and Francisca, Azuena and Aurora Acosta, all of Loving; two brothers, Filmino and Jorge Acosta, both of Presidio, Tex.; and three sisters, Mrs. Macaria Rodriguez, Presidio, Catlina of Loving, and Mrs. Celestine Garcia of Ojina, Mexico.
