Martha Ruth Light, 96, died on October 12, 2011 at Sweetwater Healthcare Center.
Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, October 14, 2011 at Roscoe Church of Christ with Dan Boren and Doug Crum officiating. Internment will follow at Roscoe Cemetery.
Martha was born on April 7, 1915 in Mitchell County, Texas. Ruth attended Wastella Schools and lived in Nolan and Mitchell Counties all her life. She married Leland "Runt" Light on April 5, 1946 in Hermleigh, TX.
She attended beauty school in Abilene and worked for Clara Wetsel and Charity Stroble Bullock in their beauty shops as a beautician for many years. She was also a housewife and farm wife and was a member of the Roscoe Church of Christ.
Preceded in death by her husband Leland ‘Runt" Light December 26, 1992, son-in-law Kenneth Garrett May 19, 1997, 2 Sisters- Blanche Ince and Melba Hackfeld and 3 Brothers- Melvin, Howard and Clyde Hagood.
Survivors include: Daughter- Schylon Boyd and husband Arthur Ray of Sweetwater; Granddaughters- Sabrina Bishop and husband, Paul, of Roscoe, Sharessa Garrett of Sweetwater; Great Granddaughter- Skye "Skye Baby" Bishop of Roscoe; Sister- Ruby Parker of Roscoe; Brother- Wayne Hagood of Sweetwater; Special Friend- Tammy Knowlton; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Honorary Pallbearers are all the nurses and CNA's at Sweetwater Healthcare Center.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 13, 2011 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at McCoy Funeral Home in Sweetwater.
