Mae Belle Ballard Capps, 92, of Dana died Sunday, Dec. 12, 2004, in Pardee Hospital.
She was born in Zirconia and lived all her life in Henderson County. She was the daughter of the late Thomas B. Ballard and Lousia Tankersley Ballard. She was the wife for 67 years of Clyde Capps, who died in 1997. She retired from the Gerber Baby Food Plant. She was a member of the Double Springs Baptist Church in Zirconia. She was also preceded in death by a son, Harlan D. Capps, who died in 1998; four brothers, Spurgeon Ballard, Dock Ballard, T.B. Ballard and Grady Ballard; and three sisters, Lola Osteen, Ollie Levi and Addie Staton.
She is survived by a son, Edison R. Capps and wife, Lula Williams Capps, of Dana; a daughter, Lou Nelson and husband, Dale, of Hendersonville; a sister, Margaret Hill of Dana; five grandchildren, Albert Capps and wife, Leny, of Charlotte, Tom Capps and wife, Marlene, of Kings Mountain, Chris Nelson and wife, Gina, and Vicki Pace and husband, Johnathan, of Hendersonville and Robin Bradley and husband, Shane, of Saluda; and 10 great-grandchildren, Albert B. Capps and wife, Heather, of Austin, Texas, Matthew and Andy Capps and Aaron Pace of Hendersonville, Amos and Terilou Capps of Concord, Blake and Justin Morgan of Etowah and Lane and Grayson Bradley of Saluda.

A funeral will be held at 11 a.m. today in the Memorial Chapel of Memories at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. The Rev. Chris Pace will officiate. Burial will follow in the cemetery. The family received friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Monday at Forest Lawn Mortuary, and at other times will be at the home of the son, 517 Hyder-Allen Lane. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Double Springs Baptist Church, U.S. 25 South, Zirconia, N.C. 28790.
