"Anna" "Ann" Melissa Lyman was born December 11, 1904 in McDonald, Kan., and passed away July 4, 1986 in Lakewood, Colo. Ann was the fourth child born to Anna Lavinia and Edwin Lyman, and from the age of 16 was like a mother to her brothers and sisters following the untimely death of her mother.

Music was an important part of the Lyman family life and Ann was blest with musical talent. She began playing piano in the McDonald Federated Church in 1916 and continued providing beautiful music until 1967.

On March 25, 1927 she was united in marriage to L.H. "Bill" Payne and had two children. They lived on their farm north of McDonald until 1945 when they moved to town and continued living there until Bill's death in 1966. The following year Ann moved to Arvada and later to Escondido, California.

In 1973 she married Ralph Wilson and they maintained residences in Escondido and Palm Desert until his death in 1977 when she returned to her home in Arvada.

A lifelong member of the McDonald Federated Church, she was also active in the Progressive Chapter 296, Order of the Eastern Star where she was organist, the Federated Music Club of Atwood, and various other organizations. Always a good neighbor and friend, she will be remembered for her loving and friendly personality. She was enthusiastic in all her endeavors and loved by all who knew her. She taught school several years in McDonald besides giving music lessons.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Edwin and Anna; husbands Bill Payne and Ralph Wilson; sister, Margaret; brothers, Roy "Link", Elbert, Richard and Arthur. She leaves to morn (sic) her passing, children, Margaret Ann and Dick Cannon of Arvada, Richard and Genie Payne of McDonald; brother Edwin and wife Sue of Bernardsville, NJ; sisters, Mildred Tracy of Escondido, Calif., Lois Mayo of Bisbee, Ariz., six grandchildren, many Niece (sic), nephews and numerous friends.

Services were conducted by Rev. Greg Moyer in the McDonald Federated Church with burial in Grace Cemetery. Organ music was provided by Mildred Tracy, with Fred Waters singing "My God and I", accompanied by Phyllis Wingfield. Pallbearers were her grandsons, Jeff, Terry and Greg Cannon, Rick Payne, Buck Roberts, and Eddie Lyman, nephew.

Relatives attending from out of town were daughter Margaret Ann and Dick Cannon of Arvada; sisters Mildred Tracy of Escondido, Calif., Lois May of Bisbee, Ariz., grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Lois and Buck Roberts, Jamies and Josh, Jeff and Nita Cannon, Elise and Manda, Terry and Greg Cannon of Arvada; Judy and Jim Jessep and Jillian of Norton, Rick and Susan Payne, Jennalee and Jordan of Greeley, Colo., nieces, Mary Wilson Baxter and husband, Bob of Bisbee, Ariz., Lois Tafoya of Denver, nephew, Eddie and Joyce Lyman of Edson; sister-in-law, Thelma Lyman of Denver and cousin Ruth Bargen and daughter of Nelson, Neb.

Memorials in Ann's name are being sent to the American Cancer Society.
