APROPOS of weddings and such—A clipping from the New York Herald Tribune, N. Y. City, arrived today telling of the marriage of Miss Mildred Elaine Lyman, daughter of Edwin Lyman of McDonald, Kas., and sister of Roy (Link) Lyman of Lincoln, to Thomas North Tracy of New York City and Old Lyme, Conn., which was solemnized Saturday, August 16 in Old Lyme. The service was read by the Rev. W Dixon Hoag, and was followed by a reception at the summer home of the bridegroom at Hamburg River, Lyme.

The attendants at the wedding included Mrs. Leonard Outhwaite of Washington, D. C., who was the matron of honor, John B. Tracy of Great Barrington, Mass., best man.

Mrs. Tracy was graduated from the University of Nebraska and the Chicago Conservatory of Music.

Mr. Tracy, who is the son of John C. Tracy, professor emeritus at Yale university, and the late Mrs. Tracy, was graduated from Yale university and is an aeronautical consultant in New York.

Mildred Elaine Lyman Tracy, 93, of Escondido, Calif., died March 27, 2002. She was born Aug. 15, 1908 in McDonald, Kans., the fifth of eight children born to Edwin and Anna Cleaveland Lyman.

She went to school in McDonald and then studied music at the University of Nebraska. She was president of Delta Delta Delta sorority and Phi Beta Kappa. After graduation in 1931, she became an accompanist for the American Ballet in New York and performed on Broadway.

In 1962, she received a masters degree from San Diego State College and taught school. She played in churches and theatres (sic) as well as Pauma Valley Country Club.

Thomas North Tracy walked up to her while she was playing at The Waldorf Astoria in 1940 and said, "I could fall in love with someone who can play the piano like that."

They were married a year later. He died in 1997.

The couple had two children who survive. A son, Thomas Lyman Tracy and wife Barbara of Hillsborough, Calif., and daughter, Anne and son-in-law Michael Bolton of San Diego; step-daughter Susan Addiss, and five grandchildren.

A private service was held at her home April 6, 2002.

The family suggests donations to the University of Nebraska Alumni Association or the San Diego Symphony.
