Last Member of G.A.R. In Anderson Dies
Anderson, Missouri, April 17 Oren Weed, 91 years old, believed to be the last Civil War veteran in McDonald county, died Sunday afternoon at the home of a daughter, Mrs. George Lanning of Anderson.
Following the war, Mr. Weed came to McDonald County as a pioneer settler and farmer.
He retired several years ago. He was the last member of the Anderson post of the G.A.R.
Surviving are two other daughters, Miss. Blanche Weed of Anderson and Mrs. Mable Altoff of Columbus Ohio, and a son A.E.Weed of Rock Island Illinois.
Funeral services will be held at 3 o'clock Tuesday afternoon at the home of Mrs. Lanning, in charge of the Rev. I.B. Torbett and the Rev. Royce. A military service will be in charge of the Anderson company of the Missouri national guard. Burial will be in Anderson cemetery.
