THOMAS BONNER
1744-1804

Thomas Bonner was born in 1744 to Henry Bonner and Sarah (Luten) Bonner and died on 30 Dec 1804 at his home near Dove Creek in Clarke County, Georgia. He was 60 years old. Thomas fought for Roebuck's Regiment in South Carolina during the Revolutionary War. He married Margaret Jones on 06 May 1767 in Edenton, Chowan County, North Carolina. Thomas and Margaret had eight boys and two girls: Jordan, Zadok, Nancy, Whitmal, Mary, Thomas, Allen, Willis, Josiah, and Daniel.

Thomas and Margaret's marriage record lists his name as Thomas Bonner, Jr. This is because when his father died, he was a minor child. He was sent to live with Henry's brother. Since his brother had a son named Thomas, there were two Thomas Bonners living in the same house. The elder one was known by Senior, and the younger one was known by Junior, no matter their true relation. This is why Thomas (1744) is known as Thomas Bonner, Jr. on some historical documents.

Note: The actual Dove Creek is located in counties, Barrow and Oconee, in Georgia. These counties lie next to Clarke County, Georgia. The town of Dove Creek is in Elbert County. It is possible that Thomas and Margaret are buried at any of these counties.
