Race Horse. Born on the Calumet Farm Lexington, Kentucky, he was the sire of 1949 Kentucky Derby winner, Ponder and grand father of 1956 Kentucky Derby winner, Needles. In 1944, Pensive won the Kentucky Derby, Preakness Stakes, Rowe Memorial Handicap and placed second at the Belmont Stakes. Pensive, Ponder and Needles are the only father, son and grandson to win the Kentucky Derby.
