Funeral services for Zula Mae Bever, 85, of Locust Grove, will be held on Thursday at 2:00 PM at the Key Funeral Home Chapel in Locust Grove. Burial will follow at Hogan Cemetery. Viewing will be Tuesday from 12PM-6PM and Wednesday from 9AM-6PM at Key Funeral Home in Locust Grove. Services are under the direction of Key Funeral Home in Locust Grove.
Zula was born on August 25, 1926 in Keota, Oklahoma to Garland Wesley and Geneva (McCaslin) Gartrell. She passed away on October 9 at her home in Locust Grove.
She grew up and attended school in the Okmulgee area. She lived on a farm and helped her parents with all the cooking, cleaning and chores around the farm. She was married to Raymond Bever on December 21, 1944 in Bakersfield, CA. They made their home in various places but eventually settled in Locust Grove. She was a homemaker and raised 7 children. She enjoyed gardening, canning and cooking and loved spending time with her family.
She is survived by 7 children- Carol Lawmaster and husband Duane of Glenpool, Wanda Cornelius of Lakecrest, Barbara McConnell and husband Kenny of Tulsa, Calvin Bever and wife Suzie of Watoga,OK, Larry Bever and wife Roberta of Tulsa, Linda Sullivan and husband Duke of Glenpool and Kenny Bever and wife Darla of Tulsa. She also has 20 grandchildren and many great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband Raymond in 2005.
