World War II Medal of Honor recipient. Served as a Private First Class, US Army, A Company, 100th Battalion, 34 Infantry Division at Pisa, Italy. Defending an outpost position on August 19, 1944, his machine gun became damaged by a shell fragment, he picked up a wounded comrade's rifle to hold off the enemy with rifle grenades. Wounded during a mortar barrage, he refused to leave and continued to fire, forcing the Germans to withdraw. He passed away in 1998. At a White House ceremony June 21, 2000, he and 21 other Asian Americans Veterans were recognized.
