"MARY MABEL GAMBLE -- Mrs. Mary Mabel Gamble, 92, of 1213 North Parkview Drive, Bismarck, North Dakota died at the Missouri Slope Nursing Home at Bismarck Sunday, Jan. 19, 1975 at 10:00 a.m.
"Mrs. Gamble was born at Norwich, Page county, Iowa June 28, 1882 and was the daughter of Selkirk and Martha "Martin" LINGO. She graduated from Page county schools, attended St Francis Academy at council Bluffs, Iowa for two years, went to Western Normal at Shenandoah, Iowa, and then attended Amity College at College Springs, Iowa where she was a student of voice culture. She was selected to sing the vocal solo for her class at graduation and later sang in and directed the Methodist Church choir at Coin, Iowa.
"She was married to Chester A. Gamble at Norwich, Iowa December 30, 1903 and the family came to Torrington in 1928. They celebrated their Golden wedding Anniversary here in 1953, and Mr. Gamble preceded her in death on Dec. 15, 1954.
"She was a member of the Methodist church at Bismarck, the Torrington Gleaners Union, and the C.C. Club at Coin, Iowa.
"She is survived by a daughter Mrs. Martha Borders, of Los Alamitos, Calif.; a son, C. Lowell Gamble of Bismarck and three grandchildren, also three great grandchildren. Three brothers in addition to her husband had preceded her in death.
"Funeral services were held at the Colyer Funeral Home in Torrington on Tuesday January 21, 1975 at 3:00 p.m. with the Rev. Lonnie B. Johnston officiating and burial was in Valley View Cemetery."
