On the 27th of Aug 1893, in Elkhart Co, Ind, of consumption, Mary Elizabeth Christophel, (widow of Isaac Christophel, who died just eight years ago of the same disease, and daughter of John Yoder), aged 41 yr, 4 mo, and 8 da. She suffered for some time, but died in the blessed hope of the life beyond. She leaves three orphan children to mourn her death.

She was buried at the Olive church on the 29th were many attended the funeral. Services were held by Joseph S. Lehman and John F Funk from the words,

"Let me die the death of the righteous, and let my last end be like his."
May God provide for the dear children who are left without father or mother
and keep them ever safe beneath the shadow of His wing.

Dearest sister, thou hast left us, here thy loss we deeply feel;
But 'tis God who has bereft us; He can all our sorrows heal.
Yet again we hope to meet thee when the day of life is fled,
Then in heaven with joy to greet thee where no farewell tear is shed."
