The first death which occurred was that of a man named Pullun, who came from Indiana in 1835. After being here but two or three months, he either accidently or intentionally shot himself while hunting in the woods. His remains were entered in what is known as the "Old Cemetery".
["The Mt. Pleasant Journal", January 1, 1869]

THE FIRST DEATH was probably the result of an accident. In 1835 a man named Pullman was found dead near the site of the Hospital for the Insane, with his rifle by his side. He was from Indiana, and had been in this section but two or three months.
[EARLY SETTLEMENT - "Portrait and Biographical Album of Henry County, Iowa", Chicago: Acme Publishing Company, 1888]

THE FIRST.
The first burial in the old cemetery was of a man by the name of Pullman found in the woods south of town supposed to have been shot by some hunters.
["The Old Log Cabin", printed news flyer, Mt. Pleasant, Iowa, August 17, 1889]

It is possible that Mary (Pulliam) Fariss #50793102 is related.
