Christen was the son of Norwegian parents, and immigrated to the United States in 1867. Twelve years later, in 1879, he wed Cleantha Johnson of Wisconsin. They had nine children. The six youngest children, all of Wisconsin, were: Hannah Larson (March 1886 - ); Dewey Larson; Jennie (Larson) Rose; Lily M. Larson; Thomas Larson (August 1895 - )**; and Arnold G. Larson.
