Military Officer. He joined the army in 1788 and four years later, he was serving in the Army of the Rhine. Wounded while fighting in the Palatinate, he returned to Strasbourg to recover. Afterwards, he saw action in Vendee, Vihiers, Montage and Coudray. He went on to serve in the 20th Demi-Bridage at Grenelle and the 17th Military Division. By 1880, he rejoined the Army of the Rhine and fought at Thiengen, Engen and Messkirch. Shortly after he was promoted to chef de bataillon and later commander, participating in the battle of Hohenlinden. After the war, he traveled to Corsica and eventually joined the Army of Italy, serving with distinction. When Joseph Bonaparte became king of Naples, he entered into the Army of Naples eventually catching the bandit, Fra Diavolo and his posse. After becoming an aide-de-camp to King Bonaparte, he was name a Commander of the Order of Two Sicilies. He followed the king to Spain, and organized the Royal Foreign Regiment for him there, becoming an inspector general for the troops and garnering another Commander title. He continued to serve Joseph until 1813, fighting guerrillas and at Vitoria. Finally returning to France, he became commander of Thionville. The Bourbons made him a Knight of Saint Louis and an Officer of the Legion of Honor. He died of a stroke.
