Swarm - Jacob, son of Jacob and Caroline Swarm, was born in St Joseph Co, Ind, May 8, 1860; died at his home near Wakarusa, Ind, June 2, 1933; aged 73 y, 25 d.

On March 27, 1882, he was married to Alice Ritter.

To this union were born 12 children, of whom 6 preceded him in death.

He spent all his lifetime in this community, where he was highly respected and esteemed as a neighbor and friend. His acquaintance was over a large territory where he had labored as a thresher since he was a boy of 15 years. He had been in failing health for several years, suffering from heart trouble.

He is survived by his wife, 2 daughters (Mrs Dennis Moore, Dunlap; Mrs Theodore Thompson, Chicago, Ill), 4 sons (Henry and Walter Swarm, Mishawaka; Grover, Elkhart; Herbert, at home), a sister (Mrs James Nunn, Elkhart), 3 brothers (Henry, Lewis, and Fred Swarm), 11 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held June 4 at the home and at the Olive Mennonite Church by C A Shank, assisted by D A Yoder. Interment in adjoining cemetery.

Jacob Swarm, 73, died Friday morning at his home, a mile west and four miles north of here, from heart trouble, with which he had been ailing for over two years. He had been bedfast since last fall.

Funeral services were held Sunday, a service at the home at 2 pm followed by a service at the Olive Mennonite church in charge of the Revs David Yoder and Clarence Shank. Burial in the adjoining cemetery.

Mr Swarm was born in Madison township on May 8, 1860, the son of Jacob and Caroline Swarm.

On March 27, 1882, he was married to Alice Ritter.

Of 12 children the following six survive: Grover Swarm, Elkhart; Mrs Dennis Moore, Dunlap; Mrs Theodore Thompson, Chicago; Henry and Walter Swarm, Mishawaka, and Herbert Swarm at home.

There are also 11 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren; three brothers, Henry Swarm of Osceola, and Lewis and Fred Swarm, of Wyatt, Ind, and a sister, Mrs James Nunn, who lives near Jamestown.

Mr. Swarm had lived all his life in the community where he died, and for over 50 years was a well known thrasher. He started thrashing at the age of 15.
