Alice Tousley Teddlie, 96, of Olla, died Sunday, January 13, 2008, at the Hardtner Medical Center in Urania.

She was retired with the LSU Extension Service with 31 years of service.

Mrs. Teddlie was a graduate of Northwestern State University in Natchitoches with a teaching degree. She was selected as Woman of the Year in 1992 in children's projects, and was the oldest Avon lady in the State of Louisiana.

In 1961, she was employed as a Family Life Specialist with LSU. She also worked as assistant home economist in Winnsboro in years past and was a member of the First Baptist Church in Olla.

She was born in Fullerton, La., on September 12, 1911, to the union of Samuel Edwin and Theresa Prestridge Tousley.

Services were held at 2 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 15, in the chapel of Riser Funeral Home in Olla with Rev. Johnnie Phillips officiating.

Interment followed in the Olla cemetery under direction of Riser Funeral Home of Olla.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, Frank Teddlie.

Survivors include one sister, Mary Belle Tousley Carroll of Olla; her nieces and nephews, James Lee and Ilene Carroll, Sam and Cathy Carroll, James Strickland, Nancy Tousley Cameron, Susan and Fred Shaw, Lawanna and Harry Sumrall, and a host of great nieces, nephews, friends, and co-workers.

Pallbearers were Blake Sims, Charles Ford, Wayne Bates, Bob Albritton, Huey Cockerham, and Robert Carroll.
