Born January 10, 1939 in Burlington, she was the daughter of Allen Dale and Ruby Pearl Coolbaugh Booten. On July 27, 1959, she married Edwin C. "Babe" Johnston in Palmyra, Missouri. He died September 25, 1995.
Mrs. Johnston was a homemaker. She also was a waitress at the Hotel Burlington Ballroom and worked for Doran & Ward.
She was of the Protestant faith. She was a member of Moose No. 587. She enjoyed ceramics, her garden and auto racing.
Survivors include one son, Steven C. Johnston of Burlington; one daugher, Beth Brandstette of Cedar Rapids; three grandchildren; and one sister, Lahoma Sanders of Burlington.
Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by one brother.
Visitation will be from noon to 8:00 p.m. Sunday at Prugyh's Chapel, where the family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m.
A graveside committal service for Mrs. Johnston will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday in Aspen Grove Cemetery, with Pastor Dean Moberg officiating.
