Anthony "Tony" DiGiovanna, 92, of Springfield died Wednesday, Feb. 26, 2003, at St. John's Hospice. He was born July 16, 1910, in Montevago, Sicily, the son of Joseph and Vita Spatazza DiGiovanna. He married Bernice Sack in 1936. Mr. DiGiovanna worked at Allis-Chalmers for 20 years and later for Buffalo Elevator. He was part owner of three grain elevators in Barclay, Dawson and Buffalo from 1948 until his retirement in 1975. He was a longtime member of St. Peter and Paul Church and a current member of St. Joseph's Church. He also was a member of Eagles Aerie 437 and was a Golden Eagle. Survivors: wife, Bernice; two daughters, Eva "Eve" Jean Best of Springfield and Ruth Ann Robertson of Galesburg; two grandchildren; two brothers, Dominic (wife, Virginia) and Vincent DiGiovanna, both of Springfield; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral Mass: 10 a.m. Monday, St. Joseph's Church, Monsignor Thomas P. Holinga officiating. Burial: Calvary Cemetery. Staab Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
