WIFE OF WALDON MARION GABLE
CORNELL – LaVida Gable, 84, of Cornell, passed away unexpectedly at 1:45 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 19, 2011 at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Chippewa Falls.

LaVida was born on Oct. 16, 1926 to Gottlieb and Christina (Klingman) Oberlander in Mound City, S.D.

She married Wallace Giebel and they later divorced. LaVida then married Waldon Gable on March 25, 1988 in Las Vegas. He preceded her in death on Feb. 19, 1999.

LaVida is survived by: her children, Mary Ann (Verlon) Cowell of Cornell, Raymond (Kathy) Giebel of Brooksville, Fla., Willard (Jeannie) Giebel of Cornell, and Kathy (Pierre) Goda of Oldsmar, Fla.; three step-daughters, Sandra Conteras, Deborah Gable and Vicki Vega; 10 grandchildren; seven step-grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; three sisters, Irene Lemley and Arlene Neibauer of Springhill, Fla., and Delores (Milton) Schmitt of Milwaukee; a brother, Floyd (Dorothy) Oberlander of McLaughlin, S.D.; and a brother-in-law, Fritz Wood of Pewaukee.

She was preceded in death by: her parents; husband Waldon Gable; two daughters, Arlene and Bernadine Giebel; two brothers, Elmer and Oscar Oberlander; a sister, Viola Wood; a sister-in-law, Betty Oberlander; and three brothers-in-law, Carl Jacobsen, Reuben Lemley and John Neibauer.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 24 at the Borton-Leiser Funeral Home in Cornell, with Pastor Brahm Semler Smith officiating. Interment will take place at the Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis on Monday, Sept. 26 at noon.

Family and friends may call from noon to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 24 at the Borton-Leiser Funeral Home in Cornell.
