Floyd Oberlander, 87, passed away peacefully on July 22,2018 at Season’s Hospice. Born in Eureka, South Dakota, he was the son of Gottlieb and Christina Oberlander. He had a large family with 2 brothers, Oscar and Elmer and 5 sisters, Lavida, Viola, Irene, Arlene and Delores. He graduated from McLaughlin High School and then moved to Milwaukee, Wisconsin wanting to be near his brother Oscar and his wife Betty. He was employed at Bostrom and then moved on to truck driving at Foreway Express. Then retiring in January of 1992,

He was a member of the Teamster’s Union. Enjoyed bowling and playing sheepshead. Even though he had a stubborn streak, he was a generous man and was willing to help anyone who asked for it. While not a man of many words, we knew he loved us all in his own way.

He is survived by daughters Wendy (Don)Schlieve, Sherry (Steve)Walters, Lisa (John) Connerton, 5 grandchildren Tabitha, Donny, Samantha, Katie, Alyssa and 5 great grandchildren Cody, McKenzie, Hailey, Teagan, and Shane. Also survived by his 3 sisters Irene, Arlene and Delores and 2 brother-in-laws Fritz and Milt with many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy, of 47 years of marriage.

Visitation is Thursday July 26th from 3 – 5pm at the funeral home. Funeral service will follow at 5pm at the Berndt-Ledesma Funeral Home Hartford. Rev. Scott Moore will officiate. Burial will be Saturday July 28th at 9:30am Central time in McLaughlin, South Dakota.
