Headline: May Funeral Rites Held
Mrs. Linnie May, wife of D. M. May, prominent farmer and the school board member from ward 9, died at her home Thursday, January 30, at the age of 55 years. She had been ill for the past five months, spending most of that time in a hospital in Monroe; however her death came as a shock to her many friends and relatives who deeply regret her passing.
Funeral services were held on Friday at 1:00 p.m. with the Rev. Seals, pastor of the Trinity Baptist Church, who was assisted by Rev. G. W. Wall of ward 9. Services were held at the Hickory Springs. Rev. Dennis Fordhams of Chatham also assisted.
Born 55 years ago in Jackson Parish, she was before her marriage to Dudley M. May, Miss Linnie Pankey. At the time of her death she was a member of the Eastern Star Lodge of the Hebron chapter, and was a member of the Missionary Baptist Church, her membership being with the New Church Baptist Church of ward 9.
She is survived by her husband, D. M. May; three sons: Waymon, Woodrow and Hollis May; one daughter, Mrs. Loyce May Womack of West Monroe; five brothers: Dr. J. H. Pankey of ward 9; and three sisters: Mrs. Nannie Murphey of Monroe, Mrs. Lizzie Waldrop of ward 9 and Mrs. Lottie Jones of Monroe.
