IN memory of Mrs. SOPHIA BONHAM, relict of Captain James Bonham. Born December 18th, 1780. Died May 18th, 1858. With a heart abounding in every charity; a sympathy for every suffering; a sincere attachment to neighbors, she died as she had lived, at peace with all mankind. An affectionate daughter and wife, she cherished warmly those memories to the day of her death. A most devoted mother she spent her time and substance in promoting the welfare of her children. Left early alone, she had her full share of the cares of life, but amidst them all she did not omit to lay up her treasure in heaven. Long a Christian, she attached herself to Red Bank Church in 1831, of which she died a pious and exemplary member. Her children cherish her as the best, the purest, and most devoted of mothers.
Trancribed in August 1936 by Mrs. Sarah (Waldo) Wilson and printed in the "Smith-Bonham Cemetery" booklet by Charles R. Andrews, III.
