Franklin News-Herald, Friday, Apr 29 1988:
Mrs. Gertrude E. Hagerty, 83, formerly of Warren Road, Franklin RD 4, died at 5:30 am today, April 29, in Grandview Health Care Center, Oil City. Born in Franklin March 6, 1906, she was a daughter of Hutchinson and Emma Hope DeLong.

She married Daniel W. Hagerty in 1951, and he died Aug. 18, 1971.

She had worked at Polk Center and Franklin Hospital as a licensed practical nurse, and last worked at St. Francis Hospital in Pittsburgh until retiring in 1970. She was a member of Galloway United Methodist Church, the VFW Auxiliary, and the Oil City Chapter of the AARP, and was involved in the Foster Grandparent Program for Green Thumb.

Surviving are two sons, Robert J. Biles of Franklin, and Donald L. Biles of Tucson, AZ; a daughter, Mrs. William (Jackie) Hoover of Oil City; three grandchildren, Robert E. Biles of Franklin, Cindi Lee Miller of Oil City, and Carol Lynn Prestridge of Sugarcreek; and three great-grandchildren, Todd Miller of Oil City, Misty Biles of Franklin, and Kelli Lynn Prestridge of Sugarcreek. She was preceded in death by her husband, three brothers, and two sisters.

Services will be at 11 am Monday at Robert W. Gardinier Funeral Home with Rev. David Lewis, pastor of Galloway United Methodist Church, officiating. Interment will be in Lamey Cemetery.
