James Harold Shaffer
James Harold Shaffer, 81, died Wednesday, March 10, 2004, at his residence in Greenwood.
He was born Aug. 21, 1922, in Kittanning, Pa. His parents were I.T. and Katherine Shaffer. He married Marie (Drees) Shaffer. She survives. Other survivors include a son, Lloyd Alan Shaffer Sr. of Clovis, Calif.; a daughter, Carole Marie Beasley of Greenwood; a sister, Viola Shank of Indiana, Pa.; two grandchildren; and a great-grandson.
He was employed by P.R. Mallory for 35 years, retiring in 1979.
He was a member of Greenwood American Legion Post 252, Disabled American Veterans, Mallory Conservation Club and Mount Olive Lutheran Church and a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Indianapolis for more than 50 years.
He was a U.S. Army Air Forces veteran of World War II.
The Rev. David McClean will conduct a service at 11 a.m. Saturday at Mount Olive Lutheran Church in Greenwood. Friends may call from 4 to 9 p.m. Friday at G.H. Herrmann Greenwood Funeral Home, 1605 S. State Road 135, and from 10 a.m. until time of service Saturday at the church. Burial with military graveside rites will be at Concordia Cemetery in Indianapolis.
