Viola B. "Vi" Shank, 93, of Indiana, Pa., was called home to be with her Lord on Friday, Feb. 23, 2007. She was born Dec. 6, 1913, in Kittanning, to Israel "I.T." and Catherine A. Shaffer. She married Reginald T. Shank on Dec. 8, 1934. He preceded her in death on Sept. 3, 1965. In addition to her parents and husband, Viola was preceded in death by four brothers and a sister. She is survived by five children, Denny Shank, of Katy, Texas, Patty Shank, of Indiana, Pa., Bill Shank, of York, Donna Shank, of Mansfield, Ohio, and Jeff Shank, of Clarksburg, Pa.; and daughters-in-law, Patty Shank and Becky Shank. Viola had six grandchildren, Stephanie Ruthardt, Bob Shank, Judy Pettett, Lori and Kevin Shank and Amanda Shank. She also had nine great-grandchildren. Vi was an active member of the East Pike Church of Christ. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She had several part-time jobs over the years, including Penn Traffic Bakery and Graft's Meat Market, but spent most of her time as a homemaker, providing her children and grandchildren with a warm, loving environment in which to grow. The family will receive friends from 12:30 to 4:30 p.m. Sunday at ROBINSON-LYTLE INC. in Indiana, where services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday with Lawrence Barr officiating. Graveside service in Greenwood Cemetery will be private.
