Son of Oakley Brown and Catherine Lawrence Brown, husband of Lila Bowden Inzer. First Mayor of Ragland, AL, elected to AL House of Representatives in 1902, elected AL Senator representing St Clair and Etowah Counties in 1910, 1918, and 1926, president of the Odenville Bank, a director of the Anniston National Bank, a director of the Alabama Life Insurance Company, and a trustee of the Jacksonville State Normal School (now know as Jacksonville State University), owned THE ST CLAIR COUNTY NEWS, ran for governor of AL in 1930, and was a life time trustee of the Alabama School of Trades (which is now a part of Gadsden State).
