Adolph Brown, 65, for years a leading manufacturer and business man of Attalla, died at a local hospital this morning at 2:53 o'clock following an illness that extended over a period of 10 years.

Mr. Brown was thought to be doing well until last Tuesday when he became suddenly and violently ill. An emergency operation was performed as a last resort, but nothing could have saved him, according to those attending him.

He was born in Talladega County and came to Attalla 25 years ago to engage in business. He owned the first electric light and power company in Attalla. He was engaged in the wholesale grain and flour business for many years and was operator of a big mill at one time. He was active in industrial and civic affairs until 10 years ago when his health began to fail.

Mr. Brown was one of the most active political leaders in the state. He served this county in the legislature and he always took a keen interest in state and national politics. He was a Mason and Knights of Pythias.

Surviving are the widow, Mrs. Leila Henderson Brown; three daughters, Miss Kathryn Brown, Mrs. Clemson Duckworth and Mrs. Augusta Montgomery; two sons, Oakley Z. Brown and Lawrence Brown; one brother, Watt T. Brown, of Birmingham, and one sister, Mrs. S.P. Hagin, of Gadsden.

Funeral services will be held at the Methodist church in Attalla at 3 o'clock Friday afternoon and the burial will follow at Forrest Cemetery in Gadsden.
