Robert Vance "Red" Childers, a 60-year resident of the Dallas area died April 14, 1986 at Veterans Adm. Medical Center after a three week illness. The funeral was April 16 at Laurel Land Memorial Chapel. Burial was at Restland Memorial Park. Rob was born in Ferris, Ellis County, Texas on June 24, 1910, son of Hardy W. Childers and Ophelia Guy Childers. The family moved to Dallas about 1925 and to Oak Cliff in 1926. He married Genevieve Greenslade on April 24, 1936. He had one daughter, Linda Carol. He moved to Cedar Hill in 1960. He was a Mason with the Oak Cliff Lodge and a veteran of World War II serving with the 2913th Military Police Unit for two and one-half years in Europe. He was a member of the Highland Park Police prior to the war. After the war he went into sales. He had one grandson, Jason Shawn Hulin.
