    Orville Severson Mathre, 82, of Newark died Monday, December 23, 2002 at Pleasant View Luther Home in Ottawa.
    Funeral Services will be 11 AM Saturday, December 28, 2002 at the Helmar Lutheran Church. Burial will be at the Helmar Cemetery. Visitation will be 10 to 11 AM Saturday at the church.
    Orville was born January 19, 1920 in Lisbon Township, Kendall County to Severin and Edna (Severson) Mathre. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II and was a member of the Newark American Legion Post #459. He worked as an auto and machine part clerk for many years for various businesses in the area and he loved dearly to play his piano. He was a member of the Helmar Lutheran Church.
    He is survived by his sister, Ruth Kirkhus of Peoria; two brothers, Sherman (Eloise) Mathre and Howard (Corinne) Mathre both of Newark; a brother-in-law, Chester Scott of Yorkville and many nieces and nephews.
    He was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister, Mildred Scott.
    Pallbearers will be Tom Mathre, Mark Mathre, Bradley Mathre, Marlon Mathre, John Kirkhus and Jerry Hinshaw.
    Memorials may be directed to Pleasant View Luther Home of the Helmar Lutheran Church.
