On 31 May 1911, Peter married Elizabeth Schmitt at Saint Boniface Catholic Church in Cold Spring, MN; he was age 25, she was 20. Born on 3 Dec 1890 in Wakefield (Township), MN, Elizabeth was the eldest of thirteen children born to Mathias & Elizabeth (Rothstein) Schmitt.
Peter and Elizabeth farmed westnorthwest of Cold Spring, MN (which was part of an area informally called the Bavarian Settlement – due to the number of Germans who settled in the area. This "settlement" included land in both Wakefield & Munson Townships; reaching north & northeast from the area around Cold Spring to Jacob's Prairie and Collegeville, MN). I believe that he took over at least part of the family farm from his father; likely splitting it with his brother, Matt. In the 1910 Federal Census that farm was listed as being on Bavarian Settlement Road. [If looking at a current day map, I believe their farms were on what is now called Glenwood Road.]
