OWEN AUGUSTUS ABELL DIES AT HOSPITAL
Final rites are being held this afternoon from Talbert Funeral Home for Owen Augustus Abell, 59, of 310 Elmwood Avenue, who died yesterday at the Columbia Hospital.
The Rev. George Varn and the Rev Mr. Bouknight are officiating.
Active pallbearers are D. C. Switzer, W. T. Moore, R. C. Smith, H. S. Napier, J. K. Smith and J. D. Hayden.
Honorary pallbearers are: Gary Paschal, Fire Chief A. McC. Marsh, Sheriff T. Alex Heise, Ernest Broome, Dr. L. C. Davis, Dr. W. T. Zell, Mayland Cook, Earl Brazzell, and Don Mance.
Mr. Abell, a retired fireman, is survived by his widow, Mrs. Mattie Ballentine Abell; one daughter, Mrs. Randolph Smith of Columbia; three sons, Thomas Augustus, Marshall Vernon, and Theodore Marshall Abell, all of Columbia; three sisters, Mrs. Jim Brazzell of Ridgeway; Mrs. Wade H. Brazzell of Columbia, aand Mrs. W. P. Ballentine of Blythewood; three brothers, William Abell of Blythewood, Frank and Talmadge Abell both of Columbia; two grandsons and a number of nieces and nephews.
