Iva A. Partlow was born 1892 to William Albert Partlow, who had six children with wife Mary Susan Goodwin before she died in 1881. Ten years later in 1891 he married a widow, Hattie W. Hicks Malcolm, and had two more children -- Iva and Erva Partlow. William Partlow died in 1896, leaving his wife with their two little girls aged 4 and 2; Hattie apparently could not support the little girls and placed them in the IOOF orphanage in Clay County, Missouri. In 1899 Hattie married a third time to Henry Blanchard and had five more children, but Iva and Erva remained in the orphanage until 1910 when Iva reached age 17, the maximum age allowed there. For a brief period the two girls returned to their mother and stepfather's home.

Iva A. Partlow apparently left her mother's home and went to Kansas City, Missouri to work. There she married Ronald Jefferson Bolin on July 7, 1912. They had two daughters and lived out their lives in the Kansas City area.
