On March 26 1996, Private Denham enlisted in the United States Army National Guard as a 11B Infantryman. On 24 February 2005 he converted to Active Duty. His assignments include: A Company, 1st Battalion, 41st Infantry Regiment at Fort Riley, Kansas as a basic rifleman and deployed to Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom III (National Resolution); Combat Company, 1st Battalion, 28th Infantry Regiment, Fort Riley, Kansas and deployed twice in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom 06-08 (Iraqi Surge) and in 09-11 (Iraqi Sovereignty as a Squad Leader.
SSG Denham's awards and decorations include: the Army Commendation Medal with 2 oak leaf clusters, the Army Acheivement Medal, the Navy Unit Commendation Ribbon, the Army Good Conduct Medal with 1 knot, the Marine Corp Good Conduct Medal with 1 star. the National Defense Service Ribbon with 1 star, the Iraqi Campaign Medal with 2 stars, the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, the Non-Commissioned Officer Professional Developmental Ribbon with number 2, the Army Service Ribbon, the Army Overseas Ribbon with number 3, the Navy and Marine Corp Overseas Service Ribbon.
