At the residence of her son, Capt. H.K. Grant, on Monday, February 27, 1899, at 9:30 o'clock a.m., Marie Krebs widow of the late Washington F. Grant, departed this life at Pascagoula, Miss., in her 77th year.
Mrs. Grant was born in Pascagoula, where she married in 1842. Two daughters, one son and brother survive her, viz: Mrs. Rachael Dreese of Savanah, Ga.; Mrs. Elizabeth Davis of Morgan city, La.; Capt. H.K. Grant of Pascagoula and Mr. H. Krebs of Scranton. Her eldest son John, who was a member of Twiggs Rifles, died of pneumonia during the war.
The funeral took place at 3 o'clock Tuesday afternoon and proceeded to the Catholic chapel, where services were held, Rev. Father Ten Brink officiating; thence to the Pascagoula Catholic cemetery for interment.
