Father: Jason Isbell (1745-1812)
Mother: Mary “Polly” Isbell (1764-1830)

Exact dates of birth and death not known. Ezekiel’s age on both the 1830 and 1840 census indicate that he was born between 1800-1810. Since his eldest child, Polly, was born in 1820, the year of 1801 is realistic. If Ezekiel was born in 1801, then he was born in KY and moved to TN at a very young age. Jason Isabell, his father, was listed on the 1797 Tax List in Warren Co., KY. He was gone from there by 1804 [Rev. Sherman Isbell]. Hanner Isbell, Ezekiel’s sister, married Richard Biggs in 1802 in Warren County, KY and consent was given by her father, Jason Isbell. Ezekiel died aft 1 Jun 1880 in St. Clair Co., AL.

Ezekiel was married three times. Circumstantial evidence indicates that his first wife was a daughter of Hugh Gentry and Mary Lane because three Isbell children, Polly, Jesse and Hugh G. Isbell, are included in the Gentry Bible record. Nancy Gentry seems to be the most likely one to have married Ezekiel, but there is NO PROOF for this marriage. She may have died in childbirth with their last child. Jesse and Hugh G. are proven sons of Ezekiel.

There is no record of Ezekiel’s second marriage, nor the surname of his wife, Frances “Fannie,” whom he married about 1825. Fannie died in 1878/79 after signing the following deed. She and Ezekiel had 10 children.
