U.S. Congressman. He graduated from Williams College Massachusetts, in 1825, moved New York, in 1825, studied law, was admitted to the bar in 1828 and commenced to practice law in Salem, New York. In 1841, he was elected as a Whig to the Twenty-seventh Congress, serving until 1843. After his term in Congress, he engaged in various business pursuits until his death at age 78.
