Marie F. Karschner, 71, of Route 90, Locke, passed away Saturday, Dec. 2, 2006, at Auburn Memorial Hospital. Mrs. Karschner was born Nov. 10, 1935, in Syracuse, a daughter of the late Carl and Frances (Considine) Abell, and was a lifelong Cayuga County area resident. Marie was formerly employed with Smith-Corona in Groton, and later worked as a nurses aide. She enjoyed television, bird watching and reading. She is survived by her husband, Thomas C. Karschner; two sons, Matthew Karschner of Florida and Jeffrey Hollenbeck of Pennsylvania; four grandchildren; a brother, Carl (Marge) Abell of Elbridge; and three sisters, Frances Austin of Florida, Shirley (Frank) Kot of Memphis and Joyce Wyerpel. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 6, in St. Anthony"s Church, Groton, with the Rev. Scott Kubinski as celebrant. Interment will be in St. Anthony's Cemetery, Groton. Contributions may be made to the Arthritis Foundation, Upstate NY Chapter, 3300 Monroe Ave., Suite 319, Rochester, NY 14618. Arrangements are with the Shurtleff Funeral Home, Groton.
