Rites at Avoca For G. W. Pickerill, 70

Avoca-Funeral services were held Thursday afternoon at the Blust-Berthusen Funeral Home for G. W. Pickerill, 70, former Avoca auto mechanic, who died July 19 at Bremerton, Washington, of brain concussion, and shock. The rites, with burial at Graceland Cemetery.

At Bremerton, police said Pickerell's death was still under investigation. They said, Pickerill, clad only in his underclothing, was found on the floor of the hotel room where he lived alone and died a few hours later.

Pickerill had suffered a head blows, police said, but were uncertain whether he fell, or was struck. His billfold, with a small amount of money in it, was found under his mattress. He was a former shipyard worker. Survivors include his son, E. F. Pickerill, of Council Bluffs.
