Married 1864 in Henderson Co., Kentucky according to LDS records.
According to census records, he was born in Wisconsin, a very early birth there.
Children also include: Albert F. b. abt 1869 WI.
Rufus B. Sheffer died at his home in Leadmine Nov. 22, 1916 after a lingering illness of several months. By his death another home has been dismantled. His spirit has taken its flight to the golden shore and the beautiful life lived on earth and his Christian example will live long after the mortal body has crumbled to dust.
The community has lost an honorable citizen whose moral character and habits were worthy of emulation. The dissolution of home ties brings grief, but if we understood the divine provision of the all wise creator and knew the culmination of the great plans our tears would merge into anthems of joy and gladness.
The deceased was born in 1828 near Benton and it is said he was the first white child born in Lafayette County. He lived here nearly all his life with the exception of a few years spent in Kentucky and Missouri. He served in the civil war.
