Mrs. Rufus Sheffer, an old resident of Democrat, died Sunday at the hospital in Dubuque. Mrs. Sheffer was the wife of Rufus Sheffer, owner of the land upon which the Pittsburgh Benton mine is situated. Mrs. Sheffer had been ill for some time and had gone to Kentucky for her health, but she remained in the south but a short time and after returning north she was taken to Dubuque to be cared for.
The deceased left three sons, sed, Fred, Edward and one daughter, Mrs. Joe Bird, besides a husband to mourn her death.
The funeral was held Wednesday and was conducted by the Rebekah lodge of Leadmine with Rev. Lindsley preaching the funeral sermon.
