Survivors included his wife, Linda; 4 sons, Ray Hankins, James Henry Hankins Jr, Frank D Hankins; 1 daughter, Roseanne Lord; 4 step-brothers, Jim Michael, Henry J Michael, Arthur Michael, Raymond Melzer; 3 sisters, Freda A Newstead, Gloria Jean Longton, Augusta Laura 'Gus' Elya; 3 step-brothers, Jim Michael, Henry 'Hank' Michael, Arthur Michael; 2 step-sisters, Augusta Freda Melzer, and Gloria Jean Melzer; and other family members. He was preceded in death by his parents, John 26 Apr 1973 & Frieda 13 May 1974; and 1 sister, Arjettia Bernice 'Lou' Ashley 14 Jun 1980.

Visitation was 10 am Monday 29 Oct 2001 at Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home. Funeral services were 11 am Monday 29 Oct 2001 at Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home.

Burial was in Section 28 in Grant Church Cemetery in Karlin.
